Written by ImagesLab.net on Sunday, November 30, 2008

Christmas is just around the corner and I'm still thinking what to buy to give my parents, my loves one and myself.

After searching and browsing through the net I found out Julklappar and I think this is a pretty good site if you need more presenttips for the coming Christmas which is less than a month.

Although the site is not in English, but I still manage to get some ideas by looking at the photos. Ok... I gonna go search what gift I'm gonna get for myself this year! Opss, not forget to mention my parents and my loves one. Let you know later !!

Google Earth in iPhone

Written by ImagesLab.net on Saturday, November 08, 2008

Google released an iPhone version of their highly popular desktop application Google Earth. Not only can you roam the virtual Earth viewing satellite imagery but you can also view selected terrains in 3D just by tilting your iPhone. The iPhone OpenGL graphics seems well suited for an intensive application like Google Earth. Dam cool huh ...

The new Google Earth application can be download straight to your iPhone (2G or 3G) via the Apple AppStore for free. You can use this link (opens iTunes if you have it installed).

When you start off the App you will see the 3D Earth from space. To zoom in just double tap or use the well-known iPhone gesture. You can drag the virtual map with finger swipes just as easily as you would on the native Google Maps application. This time however you can rotate the map as you like by twisting two fingers on screen. I hope I owned an iPhone now.

You can pinpoint your location using either GPS or cell tower triangulation. You can also search places in general or ones near your location. And finally you can always realign your map to point to North by clicking on the compass in the top right corner.

The nice thing about Google Earth (and what makes it better than Maps) is that it's loaded with information - geotagged photos from Panoramio and text articles from Wikipedia. If there are any of those available for the location you are looking at, you'll see small clickable icons on screen.

Using the 3D mode is as easy as it gets. If you use Google Earth with the iPhone parallel to the ground, just lift it up in portrait position and you'll see the virtual horizon and hopefully some 3D terrain (not available at all places).

LG KS500 Preview

Written by ImagesLab.net on Thursday, November 06, 2008

The latest LG KS500 is one of those handsets that won't get your attention on first look but it packs quite a punch under its unassuming looks. The nifty slider boasts a 3 megapixel camera, a QVGA display, a GPS receiver with Yahoo! Go maps application and quite possibly an affordable price tag.

Contrary to many of the online rumors, which spawned when the device was first leaked through the US FCC website, it's now finally clear that LG KS500 is not a smartphone.

The LG KS500 is a tri-band GSM phone which offers dual-band UMTS/HSDPA support. Measuring 102.8 x 49.2 x 14.9 mm doesn't really make it the most compact chap on the block, but still it's nothing too big.

The KS500 has a 262K color display of QVGA resolution, a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera (sad, we know), 100MB of built-in memory and a microSD card with support for an addition 8GB.

Although it doesn't sound ground-breaking by any means, you might be interested to know that the LG KS500 is the first handset by the South Korean company to feature an optical touchpad. It helps navigation through the menus or the web browser.

Unlike similar Samsung solutions, with the KS500 you can opt for turning off the optical trackpad in the menus, but leaving it on for an extra sweet experience in the web browser, which we guess will be the mouse-enabled NetFront 3.4 variety.

And finally, the LG KS500 brings GPS connectivity with A-GPS support. Yahoo! Go maps and location services application is preinstalled on board to make finding your way around that much easier. Of course, you can always add Google Maps for Mobile if you wish.

We don't know much on the projected availability or pricing of the LG KS500, but judging on the Vodafone brand on the official photos, you will be able to find it through Vodafone networks, so a nice, subsidized price seems a fair guess.

Nokia Games Summit 2008

Written by ImagesLab.net on Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Games lover might love this news...

29 October 2008 – Nokia hosts games industry leaders from around the world today in Rome, Italy to discuss openly about how to evolve, innovate and cooperate together to grow the mobile games business globally. In addition to discussions around trends in mobile gaming, publishers’ perspectives and visions of the future, attendees learn how the N-Gage service has been doing since its launch six months ago, hear how Nokia Games Publishing is innovating with new games like Dance Fabulous, and see concepts of the top three finalists of the Mobile Games Innovation Challenge.

“With the N-Gage service now live for six months, we have a truly global service on offer with sales transactions in over 130 countries and tens of millions of N-Gage compatible devices available,” said Tero Ojanperä, executive vice president and head of the Nokia entertainment and communities business. “The most active players reside in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Australia and Spain, but we’ve seen active players worldwide with repeat purchase rates over 35% globally. Game trials have also proved to be important, with download to purchase conversions up to 30%.”

“As we continue to scale with N-Gage, games remain a key part of our vision of context aware internet services and important to our overall services strategy,” Ojanperä continued. “But, we have a challenge for the future: how do we work together to innovate in this new environment, around Internet and services? The Nokia Games Summit is a great platform to discuss some of these challenges as well as the opportunities.”

Nokia Games Publishing has been creating unique made-for-mobile games for many years and the latest game coming exclusively to N-Gage in 2009 is Dance Fabulous. Players can create their own dance moves to any music stored on their mobile device. As they hone their dancing skills, players will be able to share their best choreographies with friends to see who has the most fabulous moves. Nokia together with music legend Dave Stewart, who is working with Nokia on the Nokia Artists’ Advisory Council, are introducing up-and-coming singer Cindy Gomez through the mobile game with brand new songs including the theme song, “Street Dancing”.

Publishers also continue to bring more games to N-Gage. EA Mobile, a division of Electronic Arts Inc, continues its support for N-Gage at the Nokia Games Summit with the announcement of an extensive global release schedule for the platform. EA will be bringing some of its popular franchises to N-Gage in the coming year, including EA SPORTS FIFA 09, Need For Speed Undercover and The Sims 3.

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing by Gameloft is also coming to N-Gage offering the largest number of high-end cars ever in your mobile device: 28 prestigious dream cars and bikes including the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F430 Spider, Nissan GT-R and Ducati 1098. Enjoy the real-time multiplayer mode to prove that you are the fastest
